Milo and the Little Moon

A bedtime story

1Milo looks up at the empty night sky outside his blue house.
Milo the mouse peeked out of his tiny blue house. “Goodnight, Moon!” he called. But the Moon was not in the sky. “Oh dear,” said Milo. “Where did you go?”
2Milo follows a trail of silver sparkles through the garden.
Milo followed a trail of soft silver sparkles through the garden. He tiptoed past sleepy flowers and a snoring hedgehog. Then he heard a tiny sound: “Pip… pip… pip…”
3Milo finds the little moon behind a pumpkin.
Behind a big pumpkin sat the little Moon! “I fell down,” sniffled the Moon. “Now the night is too dark.” Milo held the Moon’s hand. “Don’t worry. We’ll help you shine.”
4Milo and fireflies gather sparkles for the moon.
Fireflies brought their golden lights. The stars twinkled as brightly as they could. Milo gathered every silver sparkle into a shiny pile. “Ready?” he asked.
5The little moon returns to the sky while Milo rests at home.
Up, up, up went the little Moon—back into the sky! “Thank you, Milo,” smiled the Moon. Milo curled into bed and whispered, “Goodnight, Moon.” “Goodnight, brave little mouse,” whispered the Moon.
